Supportive Housing

Supportive Housing is intended for consumers who need access to Attendant Services throughout a 24 hour period
and cannot have their needs met on a visitation basis.

Generally this means consumers requiring over three hours of service per day or those needing assistance
with unpredictable toileting or turns in the night.

A.L.S.O. has 5 different sites where individuals can have their own living unit and access attendants around the clock.

At all sites Attendant Service staff are scheduled so that there is always a staff on site to assist.
There is someone there 24 hrs per day 7 days per week.

Central Y

The Central Y Site was first opened in 1995.

This site is located at
455 Dougall Ave.

It is integrated with a regular apartment and there are five accessible apartments complete with roll in showers within the building.

Y Residence

The YRes building is located at 1101 McDougal.

A.L.S.O. started Supportive Housing at this site in the late 1990’s. During that time there were six accessible bachelor apartments with roll in showers.  This year the building had an expansion. They added 3 brand new accessible bachelor units to this site.

As a result A.L.S.O. was able to move three people out of hospital and into the Community where they are able to live independently with staff assistance.

Longfellow

Longfellow is home to several independant women who require the assistance of A.L.S.O.

ALPHA is an excellent setting for people transitioning from parental homes or institutions to Independent Living.
